Being remote doesn’t mean sacrificing quality. At Cheemo Lodge, meals are built around fresh baking, the daily catch, and a level of care you can taste. Shore lunches feature freshly caught fish prepared on the spot, while those who prefer to stay on the water can opt for a thoughtfully packed lunch designed to keep you going without cutting the day short. Hot breakfasts are always available, with grab-and-go options for early starts or slow mornings alike.

Dinner brings everyone back together. From steak nights to Greek-inspired meals, or a warm bowl of soup or chili on a cold northern evening, each meal is paired with fresh baking and served without rush. Much of what comes out of the kitchen is thanks to Bre—whose creativity, attention to detail, and skill with fresh baking elevate every plate without overcomplicating it.

These aren’t overcooked roasts or predictable lodge fare, and they’re not the same franchise meals you can find anywhere else. Cheemo meals are thoughtfully crafted, familiar but refined, and designed to please a hungry group after a full day outside. It’s comfort food with intention—simple, satisfying, and done properly.

Fresh Baking

Fresh baking is part of daily life at Cheemo Lodge. From sourdough bread and traditional chocolate chip cookies to bread bowls and brownies, Bre keeps the ovens busy. The smell alone is enough to draw people into the kitchen, and the difference is immediate when you’re eating real baking made that day.

Craving chili in a warm bread bowl? It’s likely already on the way. Prefer something sweet after dinner—a moist brownie or a fresh cookie? Chances are it’s already cooling on the counter.

Shore Lunch

Shore lunch is about the only thing that makes stepping away from the fishing worthwhile. It’s a chance to stretch your legs, sit lakeside, and enjoy the freshest fish you’ll ever eat. On guided trips, everything is handled for you—from preparation to cleanup—so you can simply relax and eat.

For unguided trips, guests are provided with a shore lunch kit stocked with everything needed to prepare it themselves. Unique batters and spreads turn a simple meal into something you’ll be thinking about long after the trip is over.

Cheemo Meals

Meals at Cheemo Lodge are familiar, satisfying, and thoughtfully prepared. Dinners rotate throughout the week, offering variety without losing the comfort that makes a long day feel complete. Guest favourites include steak night, rib night, pulled pork, shepherd’s pie, and pasta night, alongside lighter options like Greek night and classic chicken dishes. Perogy night remains a standout—simple, hearty, and always well received.

Hot breakfasts are just as considered. Guests can sit down to a classic breakfast, French toast casserole, pancakes or crepes, or a hot skillet or omelet. Whether you prefer a slow morning at the table or something quick before heading out, breakfast sets the tone for the day ahead.
